Jayachandran Palazhy is trained in Bharatanatyam, Kathakali, Indian folk forms and Kalari martial art in India as well as Contemporary dance at the London Contemporary Dance School. He has also learned Ballet, TaiChi, Capoeira and African Dance. Jayachandran has toured extensively in India and abroad as a solo performer.

He is Artistic Director of Imlata Dance Company (London) and Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts (Bangalore). Apart from choreographing for these organizations, Jayachandran has been working extensively as a freelance choreographer and teacher in different parts of the world. He has led a research on teaching methodology in Indian performing arts primarlily focusing on south Indian classical dance forms. He has also done extensive study on Kalrippayattu (martial art from Kerala) and recently completed an interactive DVD on Bharatanatyam featuring the movement principles of the form and contextual information. This is part of a series called NAGARIKA ­ an integrated information system on Indian Physical Traditions using technology.

Attakkalari organises a biennial international and interdisciplinary choreolab called FACETS and an international festival on dance and digital arrtsa called ATTAKKALARI BANGALORE BIENNIAL. The next choreolab will be in January 2006 and the festival immediately after that in February 2006. Attakkalari is also interested to collaborate with digital artists who are interested in working with live performance.
